Letters to the Mayor of Philadelphia

 

What does our Mayor need to know about kids in Philadelphia? How can Dr. King’s words help guide us today?

These are the questions that children were answering as they were invited to write letters to Philadelphia’s newly elected Mayor Kenney.

Philly Children’s March, along with many other families, enjoyed the Woodmere Art Museum’s “We Speak: Black Artist in Philadelphia” exhibit and MLK celebration on January 21. While there were a variety of activities offered, Philly Children’s March worked with kids to explore Dr. King’s ideas of advocacy and activism.

Children as young as two drew pictures, signed a banner, dictated ideas, and wrote letters about what the mayor should do for kids in Philadelphia.
